Federation of Mining Associations of Rajasthan

Federation of Mining Associations of Rajasthan was established in the year 1964, registered under the Rajasthan Non-Trading Companies Act-1960, as an Apex Organization to foster the interest of the mine owners and catalyze the growth and development of mining sector in Rajasthan.

FMAR has over 300 direct members and over 21 regional Associations as members including all Cement Plants, HZL, RSMML, RK and other leading Mining Companies of Rajasthan. The Federation offers Patron, Ordinary, and Associate membership to the mines lease holders and their local Associations in the State of Rajasthan.

FMAR is the voice and the face of the mining sector of the Rajasthan including un-organized MSME Mines and Mining lessees in the State. It has worked alongside the State Government in framing effective Policies for the Mining and Mineral Regulation in the State of Rajasthan. On several occasions FMAR has filed petitions to safeguard the interests of the Mining Community and been contesting the Aravalli matter in Honorable Supreme Court of India since 2002.

Affiliations

FMAR has been active member of Mineral Advisory Council, and Policy Committee of Government of Rajasthan, Chief Minister’s State Level Tax Advisory Committee, Chief Secretary High Power Committee to check illegal mining and enforcing environmental protection measures, State GST Committee, District Mineral Fund Trust, and several other State- Level Committees related to mining activity and mineral development. FMAR has been a member of NITI Aayog and Mineral Advisory Board, Government of India.

Objectives

Promote and encourage the development of Mining or and Mineral based industries in Rajasthan and protect their interest.

  • Collect and circulate statistics, data and other information relating to Mining and Mineral based industries.
  • Undertake professional, technical and management consultation services.
  • Undertake studies, surveys and research.
  • Promote or oppose legislative other measures affecting the interest of industry and to make representations to local, state Central, International or other authorities on matters concerned with such interest.
  • Nominates, delegates and advisers etc to represent the Federation at National, international Conferences and Government and Semi-Governments bodies. It regularly participates in trade fairs, conferences, seminars and workshops on mining, exploration and environment.
  • Promote and support well –considered schemes for the general uplift of Mining and Mineral based industries and to take all possible steps towards promotion of its interest including that of labour employed in the same.
  • To advise mine-owners and assist them in settlement of their problem and disputes and to represent or arrange for the representation of mine owners in any proceedings before the Government , Judicial Courts or any other Quasi-judicial bodies.
  • Collect funds for charitable or benevolent purposes

  • Promoting MSME mines and mineral processing clusters

Federation of Mining Associations of Rajasthan which was established in the year 1964 is the Apex Organization which represents the interest of the Mine Owners and Mineral Based Industries of Rajasthan. A number of Regional Associations are affiliated with the Federation.

The Federations is a Permanent Member of the Mineral Advisory Board of Government of India and the Mineral Advisory Council of the Government of Rajasthan. It is, also a permanent member of the Taxation Committee of the State Government.

The Federation takes up the various problems which arise on account of the enforcement of Rules and Regulations framed under the Mineral Development and Regulation Act, the Forest Conservation Act and the Environment Protection Act and many other Legislative Measures which are applicable to the working of Mines and operation of Mineral based Industries.

Various matters which had adversely affected the very existence of the Mine Owners were taken up for adjudication by the Hon’able High Court of Rajasthan and the Hon’able Supreme Court of India. Best Legal Brains of the Country were engaged to contest the matter. Federation successfully got the various adverse provisions in the Acts quashed in the interest of the Mine Owners.

Smallest of the small Mine Owner of Rajasthan who works the Mines of Industrial Minerals or Mines of Decorative Stones like Marble and Granite and Building Stones like slate and slabs is Eligible to become a member of the Federation. All the Cement Manufacturing Units of Rajasthan, Lignite, Zinc, Copper, Gypsum, Talc & several large & medium scale mining projects are lead members of FMAR.

The Federation is managed by an elected Body consisting of a President, Secretary General, Secretaries of Major and Minor Minerals each and five Regional Vice Presidents and a Treasurer.
