The Ministry of Labour & Employment (India) protects workers’ rights and social security. It recently implemented four historic Labour Codes that consolidate 29 old laws. These Codes are also applicable on both organised sector as well as non-organised sector including mining. These codes introduce mandatory appointment letters, minimum wages, and social security for workers.
Key Details & Reforms:
- The Four Codes: Code on Wages, Industrial Relations, Social Security, and Occupational Safety.
- Key Provisions: Wages must make up at least 50% of your total remuneration, working hours are capped at 48 per week, and female workers are allowed in hazardous/underground jobs with equal protections.
